FAQ's
How many people can we bring on a trip?
Up to 6 guests. Call (808) 451-6010 for more than 6 guests.
What do I need to bring with me on my trip?
We recommend you bring water, reef-safe sunscreen, one towel per person, and some dry clothes. You are more than welcome to bring snacks and drinks, or anything that may make your trip more enjoyable for you and your group. We will provide ice upon request and have a cooler for you to use.
How long are your trips?
Our trips are typically 2.5 hours each with the option to upgrade for additional hours or full days. We also offer completely customizable trips that you design with us.
What if I want to extend my trip?
Each of our trips are incredibly special, and often times people just do not want to leave the water! We love making your trip exactly what you want and are more than happy to increase the length of your trip while we are on the water. Extend your charter at $350 per additional hour.
Where do we meet?
The boat will leave from Ala Wai Boat Harbor – 1 Holomoana St, Honolulu, HI 96815
What will we see on the water?
We have encountered many ocean friends on our trips, some very rare ones as well that we refer to as sea unicorns! We often see green sea turtles, reef fish, Hawaiian spinner dolphins, and whales (December-May). The sea unicorns that we have encountered are Hawaiian monk seals, whale sharks, pilot whales, bottlenose dolphins, and melon heads! In each snorkeling session there is always something new to see!
What type of boat will we be on?
You will board a spacious 42 foot Lagoon Catamaran built by french boatmaker Beneteau. Lots of room to lounge both inside the salon, cabins or the exterior decks. The yacht has a full kitchen, 3 staterooms and 3 bathrooms complete with showers.
What is your cancellation policy?
We offer free cancellation up to 48 hours before your scheduled tour. Cancellations within 48 hours of departure are non-refundable unless we cancel the tour due to weather or safety concerns, in which case you'll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Your captain monitors weather conditions closely. If we determine conditions are unsafe, we'll contact you to reschedule or issue a full refund. Light rain or overcast skies typically don't cancel a tour — Hawaii weather can shift quickly and most days still deliver beautiful conditions on the water.
How much does a private charter cost?
All of our private charters are $699 plus tax for up to 6 guests. This is a flat rate for the entire boat, not per person, making it an excellent value for couples, families, and small groups. The Friday 3-in-1 (Snorkel + Sunset + Fireworks) is also $699. Additional hours on the water are $350/hour.
Do you offer a no-whale guarantee?
Yes. During whale season (mid-November through early May), if no humpback whales are spotted on your tour, we'll bring you back out on a future whale watching cruise at no additional charge. Subject to availability during the same season. Just contact us within 30 days of your original tour to rebook.
Is your boat wheelchair accessible?
Our 42-foot Lagoon catamaran has a step-down boarding configuration that is not fully ADA-accessible, but our small crew is happy to assist guests with limited mobility on a case-by-case basis. Please call us at (808) 451-6010 before booking so we can discuss your specific needs.
What is the minimum age for your tours?
There is no strict minimum age, we've safely hosted guests from infants to grandparents. For snorkeling, children should be comfortable in the water, and infants are welcome on cruises with a parent or guardian. Please note that children under 13 must wear a life jacket at all times on the water (US Coast Guard requirement). We provide those as needed.
Do I need to know how to swim to snorkel?
No, but you should be comfortable in the water. We provide life vests and flotation devices, and our in-water guide stays with you the entire time. If you've never snorkeled before, our crew will walk you through everything before you enter the water.
Is alcohol allowed on the boat?
Yes. BYOB is welcome for guests 21 and over. We provide a cooler with ice, so feel free to bring beer, wine, or cocktails. We do not currently sell alcohol on board, and guests are responsible for safe consumption while on the water.
Is there a bathroom on the boat?
Yes. Our Lagoon 420 catamaran has three full bathrooms (called 'heads' on a boat), each with a sink and shower. You'll have full access to one of them during your charter.
Can we customize our tour?
Absolutely. Since every charter is private and limited to your group, we can adjust the route, swap snorkeling for whale watching, extend the duration ($350/hour), or build a fully custom itinerary. Let us know what you have in mind when you book, or call (808) 451-6010 to design your day.
Are tips or gratuities expected?
Tips are not required, but they're always appreciated by our crew. If you had a great time, a gratuity of 15-20% of the tour cost is customary in the Hawaii tour industry. Tips can be given in cash directly to the crew at the end of your charter, or added to your card payment on request, or by Venmo or other cash payment app.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance for weekday tours and 4+ weeks for weekends, sunset cruises, and Friday fireworks (which often sell out). During whale season (December-April) and major holidays, book as early as possible. Last-minute spots occasionally open up, call (808) 451-6010 to check availability.
What if I get seasick?
Our 42-foot catamaran is one of the most stable vessels on the water, its twin-hull design significantly reduces rocking compared to single-hull boats, and our coastal routes stay close to shore. That said, if you're prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking Dramamine, Bonine, or another motion sickness remedy 30-60 minutes before your tour.
Are pets allowed on board?
We love animals, and pets are welcome! Including certified service animals (under ADA). Please call (808) 451-6010 to let us know in advance.
